Roan Mountain, Tennessee Maternity Photographer
I met Alex around 8 years ago (wow!) when we worked together at a frozen yogurt shop in college. What I remember most about her from back then was her kind spirit, warm smile, fun sense of humor, and bold lipstick. Let me tell you, she hasn’t changed a bit! She’s just as kind, smiles just as often, says corny jokes, and still wears some rad lipsticks. She and her husband, Leland, announced their pregnancy in the best way: with a recreation of one of my favorite moments from The Office.
I was so excited when she contacted me to do their maternity photos, and even more excited when she said she wanted to do them in the mountains I love most. We took our time climbing elevation to the balds of Roan Mountain and could not believe our fortune when we were gifted with the best light I’ve seen up there this year. Beams of warm light and cool weather made for a lovely afternoon of exploring.
When I asked Leland and Alex what their greatest hope for their son is, they really thought through their answers. Good health for Wilder was their first answer. Secondly, they hope that he remains grounded in the real world and not live so much in the social media world. I have the same hopes for my daughter. There’s nothing like a new unspoiled life to remind you of what really matters, and what doesn’t. These two are already wonderful parents. Wilder is one lucky little guy!
Here are a few of my favorite images from their maternity shoot.
