Tasha and Sam are two of the sweetest people on planet earth. The love and devotion they share for one another is striking, and the life they live and will continue to live is the stuff of fairy tales. We took their engagement photos at Tasha’s grandmother’s property on Boone Lake in Johnson City, Tennessee.
I asked them several questions, as I do of all my couples, to get a better sense of who they are as a couple. This answer from Tasha really stopped me in my tracks: “I knew early on that I loved Sam with all my heart and that I have never known a love greater than what we have, but I struggled with coming out to my family and friends and because of that our relationship took some major twists and turns early on—she never gave up on me...through it all, no matter how bad things got, how scared I was to tell my family, through all the tears cried in the process, all the negativity and hate spread by others, all the pain of friendships lost, she never left my side.”
I always recommend couples do something that they love to do together during their engagement session. I find it helps to ease nerves when you’re given a task to do. Some choose to pop champagne, drink coffee, or play a game. Tasha and Sam chose to shotgun a beer (actually they did this twice!). It was perfect and hilarious and them. I can’t wait for the party that follows their ceremony next year!
After we took a few photos Tasha had a wardrobe change and we did a few shots with these super cool smoke bombs in rainbow colors. At the end of their session came my favorite part - Tasha and Sam were up for taking a dip in the lake which resulted in some incredibly steamy shots. This set might be my favorite from the entire session!
