“What are men to rocks and mountains? “

Pride & Prejudice, Jane Austen

So by this point you’ve probably gathered that my name is not June, it’s Brittany! So, where does my business name come from? June has always seemed magical to me. When I think of June I think of the start of warm night and amusement park and drive-in dates with my husband. June is lightening bugs, cricket chirps, late-night ice cream, long walks, bonfires, and love. My husband and I went on our first date in June. June just seems so romantic to me. It’s gives the kind of feeling you want to hold onto forever. We even named our daughter Amelia June!

If I were to summarize my business philosophy in one neat little statement, it would be this: seeking and documenting all of the moments that make your wedding day unique through storytelling, placing your experience above all else, and dedication to creating a space which allows you to be present with your spouse on your wedding day.

My couples really only have three things in common:

  1. They care about getting married above all else. They’re less focused on all the details that come with weddings and more focused on the commitment to each other. This is not to say they don’t plan elaborate, detail rich weddings. Some do! But when the day arrives, their priorities are are on their partner and the meaning the day holds. Not on their centerpieces! My couples definitely tend to be super laid back.

  2. They want nature and a little adventure. Notice how I didn’t say they love nature. Not all of my couples would go on a weekend camping trip, and that’s okay! To me, being amongst nature represents permanency. There’s something so special about vowing yourself to another person in a place that has been there long before you, and will remain well after you’re gone. There is nothing more breathtaking than a mountain bald at sunset, or a foggy winding road at sunrise. My couples are open and eager to travel for that perfect place! Let’s hop on a plane together and go to Yosemite for your elopement. Craving moody atmosphere? Let’s go to the Pacific North West! Feeling desert vibes? Joshua Tree or Moab would be rad. Wherever your heart calls you.

  3. They are non-traditional. At this time I do not accept indoor church weddings. Church weddings are beautiful, they’re just not my bag! I need to be outside in the open air for a ceremony. There’s an electric energy that comes with being outside that I just don’t find in indoor spaces. Being in nature is important to me as an artist and a person. I will shoot in the pouring rain, snow, hail, and hurricane force winds for you. If we absolutely have to move inside for weather reasons, that’s totally fine! However, outdoors will always be my plan A.

That’s it! Other than those three things, my couples come from all walks of life. It should go without saying, but all are welcome here regardless of who you love, who you are, how you identify, or what floats your boat. Love is love is love is love. I support you and will advocate with and for you always.

Hiking up a mountain in the dark to catch the sunrise with you. Unique light, windy days, and foggy mornings are my jam. I love film grain and since I shoot digital, I often add grain to my images for a more documentary look. Emotive and open couples; Those who can grow to be vulnerable with me. Adventure! Jumping into a lake, running around a bald, rock climbing up a cliff. I’d love to explore with you, let's chat!

Hey there! I’m Brittany, a 28 year old photographer, wife, and mother. I am based out of Norfolk, Virginia and Johnson City, TN, but I am always up for travel worldwide. I’m an avid movie watcher. My favorite movies are Pride & Prejudice (the Kiera Knightly version), You’ve Got Mail (and really any other 90’s Meg Ryan flick), and Practical Magic. I love to bake and am a huge fan of The Great British Bakeoff. Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks is everything. I’ve been a wedding photographer for about 5 years and I have loved every minute of it!
